Tucked away in the middel of the city lies this oasis of a dam – probably the most beautiful Carp dam in all of South Africa. The Dam used to be a quarry in the 70s and now has a residential estate built on the banks. The crystal clear blue water and over grown forests will make feel like you are fishing in Europe somewhere.
This brand new Specimen venue opened to the public in 2018 and has been a Syndicate lake which can support 100 members. Members can however bring guest anglers to fish this beautiful fishery.
Dam
The Dam is about 800 – 1000m long and around 200m wide – it has insane snags all around the bank except certain spots that have been cleared out. Beautiful overhanging trees surround the bank and provides hiding place for big carp and bass. There are great margins to fish to if you walk around the bank you can sometimes spot the lumps under the stumps.
Bait
Particles are the main bait for now – until the fish get used to boilies (as they have never even seen a boilie before very recently)
Zigs also do the business
Fish of up to 19kg have been caught and majority of them are mirrors – there are bigger fish that have not been caught but seen in the margins.
