We were blessed by Steve and Sandy Bond from Bossard in France to fish their amazing big carp lake for social session in the run up to the World Carp Masters Tournament. This 4 day session turned out to be a life changing session for everyone and certainly was the session of a lifetime. With a number of 20kg plus fish landed with the biggest being a 23.9kg Mirror and bunch of PBs smashed.

The week started when we arrived at Bossard after a long flight from Johannesburg to Paris and a 3 hour drive into the heart of France’s farming countryside. The guys were all in good spirit and could not take their eyes off this incredible looking lake surrounded by lush green forest with 20m high trees all around. The lake is about the size of 4/5 rugby fields and had 2 streams running into it with unlimited snags and features to fish to.

At about 4am on the first morning Alfred Radio’d in with a tired but nervous sounding voice…” Alfred hier! Ek het n vis op peg 4…Hoe groot Alfred?…ek weet nie mar hys  *%^@%$ Groot!!”

That fish turned out to be one of the lake legends – a fish called Cut n shut – a massive 43lber. Eugene also had a nice looking 16kg mirror and Johnny had his PB smashed with a 42lb Common. As the days passed the fish came in thick an fast all above 12 kg and the biggest being 23.9kg Mirror caught by the captain Charles Horlick.

Alfred later also broke another pb with a 22.5kg Mirror and Ruan Erasmus had a beautiful 21.7kg Mirror. Eugene had his pb of 19.1kg and Johan Potgieter managed to smash his pb with a 39lb stunner.

Bossard is any carper dream venue with massive monster Mirrors (and Commons) surrounded by true beauty and topped off with exceptional hospitality and delicious food from Sandy our Hostess.

We had to cram the footage into a few minutes but its worth the watch for sure! Enjoy!
