One of Gauteng’s true urban waters seeing the skyscrapers light up the night all around you. Unfortunately in 2020 there was a devastating sewerage spill at Wemmer Pan. Anthony Frazer runs the small syndicate area of Wemmer pan that is relatively safe towards the other parts of the dam. Wemmer pan holds stunning carp close to 50lb and grass carp well over 50lb.

Venue

The areas to target are very simple, the carp patrol up and down the cables running in the water. Dropping lines between 2 and 5 meter from the cables. The bottom is quite soft and I would recommend a longer hooklink or a pop-up rig.

Baits

Feeding I would suggest a mixture of particals 25% hemp 25% Tigers and 50% maize and hand full of freebie boilies.

Hookbaits I would suggest either snowman presentation or pop up rigs like the Ronnie of Withy pool rig.

Tigernut and partical hookbaits deliver equal amount of fish on the bank just remember to make them critical balanced.

Flavours that work well are fruit flavours like sweetcorn and pineapple. High quality fishmeal boilies would be my recommendation.

Psycho original, Tera Muti and other good boilies work well

When dropping lines so close to the cable lock your drag of your reel you can’t afford to give any line for the fish will snag you on the cables.
